ALLTEL Wireless User Reviews
![]() If you're suing Alltel, I'd like to joinOverall Rating: By: James Gannon on Tuesday, May 20, 2008From: Fairview Park, OH (United States) Experience: 5 Years Pros: none now. A few years back Alltel had better reception and coverage than other plans, probably not true today.Cons: Obnoxious collections people, worthless complaints department and Obstinance of supervisors to appropriately address customer complaints. They text you Alltel advertisment messages when you have a voice only phone plan, then charge you for opening the text, or deleting it. They try to sneak services, like Roadside assistance into your phone bill, I got it stopped, but when I changed numbers they re-applied the Roadside assistance, despite my stating not to have the feature up frontSummary: I live in Ohio and work in Michigan. Alltel customer 4 years never missed a payment. We mailed payment last May 2007 it did not get processed by Alltel contractor. Alltell collections personnell harrassed me 2 times, once after I had already in writing complained to Alltel and the BBB regarding the issue. I explained the payment in full would be re-mailed with the June payment, they disconnected my service. I discussed the situation with a biling coordinator who stated I was a loyal customer and she apologized for the inconvenience and reinstated service. One day later, while at a conference out of state my phone suddenly had problems charging the battery (never had a problem till Alltel disconnected service the day before). Other things happened, then Alltel disconnected service again prior to the June Due date; although when I returned home I found Alltel had already recieved payment prior to disconnecting service a second time. I requested Alltel let me turn in the phones and cancel the contract due to their disrespect and voiding the contract by disconnecting service on a paid account; the Alltel representative, refused ( she said I could pay a $400 fee to terminate the contract early). All during this situation, Alltel has that fraudulant commercial about switching "plans" (implying you can switch carriers) without fees. Whever I complained, odd things began happening with my phone and signals. Never use Alltel. My contract ends this June 2008 and I will be gone from them. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful The Worst Experience Ever!Overall Rating: By: Derek Davis on Tuesday, May 20, 2008From: Letcher, SD (United States) Experience: 3 Months Pros: NONE!Cons: They gave me a junk phone, and a plan that didn't even exist. By the time I found out the Alltel Rep. had given me a fake plan I had already racked up a $200 bill, because they just changed my plan without notifying me, because the plan I signed up for didn't exist. Then they changed my plan again and I had to pay $20 dollars a month more to get LESS minutes than I had signed up for! Their customer service reps are very rude, their managers are even more rude! After 3 months I disconnected mSummary: This is the WORST company EVER! They have cheap phones, bad customer service, bad plans, no plans with 100% no roaming! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone!!! I gave them more than enough time to make things right, but it never happened! VERY UNSATISFIED!!!!! 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful Stay as far away from ALLTEL as you can!!!!Overall Rating: By: Toni Cameron on Sunday, April 20, 2008From: Longview, TX (United States) Experience: 11 Years Pros: None over any other cellular companyCons: Plans and phones are more expensive. In my opinion practices are unethical and very anti customer oriented.Summary: I bought a phone which was still under warranty when it broke. We went to the Alltel office and they informed me that we would receive a replacement phone in the mail which we did. After receiving the replacement phone we went back to the Alltel office to have it activated. The replacement phone did not work either. We returned to the Alltel office and they again told us we would receive a replacement phone in the mail which we did. After receiving this phone we again returned to the Alltel office to have the new replacement phone activated. At this time we shipped both non working phones in the same box back to Alltel. They received the package by their own admission. The next thing I know I am being charged $599.99 for a used phone and $49.50 in taxes for a total of $649.49 for, and I repeat a used phone. I contacted Alltel and they said they only received one phone. I explained to them if they got one phone they got both phones as they were shipped in the same box. They said I should have sent them in seperate boxes. It messes up their system to send in one box. I have spoken with them 4 times about this situation. In the meantime they have shut off my service for a phone in which they have received and I do not owe for. Not to mention my phone was shut off 15 days into my billing cycle but yet they want to to pay for the whole month when they shut off the service because of their own stupidity and ineffective business practices. In effect breaking our contract. Yeahh for me. I have been a customer for 11 years with a phone bill of over 200.00 per month and this is how I was treated. Please use another cellular company to avoid this type of ordeal that I have experienced with Alltel. 10 out of 11 people found this review helpful Alltel is the worst service provider on marketOverall Rating: By: Zach H on Sunday, March 30, 2008From: Ann Arbor, MI (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: The only pro is the price of the plans and the my circle where you can call 10 people of your choice for free.Cons: The cons are the fact that you have to pay full price for your phone if ur phone breaks. My friends use verizon and tmobile and although they didnt get completely free phones, they didnt have to pay retail on them. Another BIG CON is the fact that if you get any smart phone like a blackberry, you have to get a blackberry plan which costs 45 dollars a month. I learned this the hard way when I broke my phone and got a blackberry phone, they started charging me 45 dollars a month. So yeah, if u want cheap service without an all round carrier go for alltel, or else dont waste ur money behind it. 9 out of 14 people found this review helpful Customer ServiceOverall Rating: By: Diane Carrigan on Friday, March 28, 2008From: Liberty, NE (United States) Experience: 13 Years Pros: I don't have any prosCons: Everybody fall al over you until you have a problemSummary: I have been a customer for over 13 years. No problems. I upgraded last year and all of a sudden I cannot get signals where I could always get them before. I tried over and over to get some solution to this problem and encountered the rudest group of people I have ever met. Not one was willing to even try until my 6' 2" husband went in and threatened them. They had been verbally abusive to me on several occasions. When my contract is up, I will never use Altell again 9 out of 13 people found this review helpful Do Not Use AlltelOverall Rating: By: Bob John on Wednesday, March 26, 2008From: Tifton, GA (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: at times, reception can be goodCons: impossible to get out of contract, website is clumsy and not updated well, high priced plansSummary: Do not use Alltel wireless and avoid their predatory business practices at all costs. Unlike many major carriers, they do not allow you to get out of your contract if you move to an area with no Alltel service, nor do they even attempt to work with you. Their solution to my problem was to "just ride out the rest of your contract even if you never use the phone." Why pay for something that you aren't going to use? The reason for this is so that they continue to make money off of you. Deal with any other company first before going to Alltel, please! 12 out of 18 people found this review helpful Alltel Fails basic customer service....Overall Rating: By: k wallace on Monday, March 03, 2008From: snyder, TX (United States) Experience: 24 Months Summary: My daughter was shocked by her Motoroloa E815 phone. She did not have it plugged into a phone charger, she doesn't have one for her car. I went to replace the phone at Alltel. I have paid insurance on this phone. The attendant at the store checked for water damage and there was none. They made me call the insurance co. for approval. They approved. The Alltel store, by company policy, would not sell me a different phone. They said they have the E815 in stock so therefore that is the one I would have to take!!!! I contacted Motorola and they replaced the phone with a different model. They are looking at the old phone to see what caused the problem. MOTOROLA IS FIRST CLASS!!!! There are not enough negative adjectives to sufficiently describe Alltel. The short statement is; ALLTEL STINKS!!@#$#@$@#$ 20 out of 33 people found this review helpful Loving the ALLTELOverall Rating: By: Candace Waits on Friday, February 29, 2008From: Newport News, VA (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: Great customer service, good response time, good coverage, great planCons: none to dateSummary: I manage a 35 line Alltel cell account for our company. We have a great customer service rep and all my requests are answered in a timely manner. She explains options and gives us great service. To date, we are exceptionally pleased with the plan and service provided by Alltel. 15 out of 33 people found this review helpful Alltel, please unlock MMS on Palm 755pOverall Rating: By: Andy Klevorn on Monday, February 11, 2008From: Ludington, MI (United States) Experience: 10 Years Pros: Great reception, great customer service, fair pricingCons: See below.Summary: Alltel has gone a LONG way in providing the best coverage area for Western Michigan. Buying a quality handset will get you coverage nearly everywhere, as an avid outdoorsman, 2,300 miles of mtn biking in a three county area, I get way off the beaten track and with a simple Razr have been able to share images back to my newspaper website using MMS. I'm in the market for a smartphone and am testing a Palm 755p. After checking on the Palm site I made sure the phone had the feature. After getting the phone and using it for the weekend. I love it except they don't allow MMS using the Palm. They allow email, but here's why that doesn't work. I manage a website, three actually, and I have users who send me picture messages that I then pass thru to the site. If, big if, if I can get them to change to emailing me photos there is the issue of the 6-8 additional attachments, Alltel logos and disclaimers that I can't strip out of the email. So now I'm looking at the HTC touch, which, inexplicably they allow MMS on... Please be smart and let the 30 buck a month data users pick how they want to text message. 20 out of 41 people found this review helpful Good...until there's a problemOverall Rating: By: Robert Paulson on Tuesday, February 05, 2008From: Cedar Rapids, IA (United States) Experience: 4 Months Pros: Good service, quick replacement of warranty items.Cons: Bad customer service. Summary: I got the Samsung Hue for $20 with a 2 year contract about 4 months ago. The charger is in a very awkward position and is used for both the charger and headphone jack. I hook my phone up to the charger every night as I assume most people do. Well, a couple weeks ago the phone stopped recognizing it was hooked to a charger and would not charge. Alltel sent me a replacement very quickly.(this was also broken and they replaced it as well) A week later I received my original phone back at my house. They said it was out of warranty because of "physical damage". The phone is in perfect shape except for the jack, where you must plug your charger. So now my option is keep the original that won't charge the battery, or buy the replacement they sent me for $160(I only spent $20 on the first one). I think I'm gonna go with option C which is break the contract for $200(40 bucks more) and get Verizon and a brand new phone for free. I guess I feel that good customer service would be recognizing I didn't beat this phone up (I merely used it as it was made to be used and the jack got screwed up) and letting me keep the new phone. Only in a perfect world I guess. 15 out of 41 people found this review helpful |
