NTelos

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Melanie Lewis on Saturday, January 03, 2009
From: Lynchburg, VA (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Good coverage, fair price, no customer service problems

Cons: None so far except maybe that we have to wait for bigger companies to release rights to newer phones.

Summary: I am sorry that so many have had problems with NTelos. I have the exact opposite experience. I switched to NTelos about 5 years ago and LOVE the service. I am even more excited with this company after our local news station did an unbiased review of the various service providers in our area. NTelos came out on top for having the best reception, fewest dropped calls and lowest price.

I had been with ATT who was bought out by Suncom. Once the buy out was announced, I called ATT and asked them if I was unhappy with the service, could I drop the plan. I was told yes. Once the buyout was complete and ATT was Suncom, my service with them suffered. Dropped calls were common and the price increased. I called to cancel my service and was told that I would have to pay $200 to get out of my contract. I kept ATT until the contract was finished and then switched to NTelos. I am a teacher that travels between several different schools in a rural area. I have NEVER had a problem getting reception with NTelos except on a new bypass, and that was fixed later.

Too, once my children ran my bill over by about $150 with texting. I called NTelos who granted me grace and removed the charges. I upgraded my service to include texting as I learned that teens would rather text than talk.

A colleague of mine recently purchased an IPhone. He was trying to convince me that I would love an IPhone. Maybe so but if I have to leave NTelos to ATT to get an IPhone, forget it! Thank you, NTelos, for a great service.

NTelos is the BEST!!

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Cheryl K on Saturday, January 03, 2009
From: Virginia Beach, VA (United States)
Experience: 10 Years
Pros: Everything from affordable monthly plans to customer service (in stores & by phone).

Cons: Only cons are the rude, ignorant & dishonest insurance company & reps they now contract with -which is NOT an Ntelos company - PLEASE find another Insurance Co for us to deal with!! Also, Motorola phones are garbage & their customer service is non-existent - 2 emails & NO response.

Summary: I have been with Ntelos since they came into my area as Primeco. I have never had ANY problem with receiving signals or dropped calls. In fact, I have had service in areas, like Cape Hatteras when my friends, who had AT&T, Sprint, etc did not. Any issues with signals usually reflects on the type of phone you have, & if its Motorola, forget it!! or that its so rural that no one else can get a decent signal on ANY network. Customer Service has always been outstanding. They're friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Tech support has helped me resolve a couple issues over the years, & are awesome. I even had a Rep do a 3-way call with me & the Ins Co to help resolve an issue, but unfortunately it did not work as the Ins Co emoploys rude & ignorant people who have NO interest in helping a customer once they have your money. When I started texting more than usual, they called me, & got me on a plan, that not only would save me money in the future, but prorated it for that month & saved me about $50. And people, just because you may have had 1 bad rep or experience, which is hard to imagine with this co., that's gonna happen with ANY company eventually - so be reasonable.

Experience: 2 Years
Pros: I get their signal at my house

Cons: Everything else about nTelos is bad.

Summary: I have the Blackberry 8830 phone. According to Blackberry, the phone can work as a tethered modem. nTelos tried to tell me that it would not work that way. I informed them otherwise. Then they gave up and just told me that me that my question is outside their training.... WHAt??!!!

nTelos is better than ATT

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: John Kong on Tuesday, November 11, 2008
From: Salem, VA (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Low cost, real live customer service reps (short wait times)

Cons: Too few stores & lack of phone selection --> maybe a merger with another mobile company (ie Sprint)

Summary: I switched to nTelos July 2008 and have not had any problems with the cellular provider at all. I did, however, have problem with my HTC Touch. It had a tendency to freeze up on me, so nTelos just sent me another. I enjoy their low cost smart phone plans (my bill is $82.09/mon). I shopped around. Other carriers had their smart phone plans starting at $79.99!! All in all, aside from the lack of phone selection, I enjoy nTelos service.

Drop Calls are normal

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: M V on Tuesday, October 07, 2008
From: Charleston, WV (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Low prices

Cons: EVERYTHING

Summary: Ntelos is one of the worst cell phone compaines ever. Dropped calls seem to be normal in there eyes, and being in roam at your home is also. I would advise anyone that is looking for a cell phone to not look at how cheap they are but the quality of service you get very little.

nTelos

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: NA NA on Saturday, August 23, 2008
From: fairmont, WV (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Very low prices, no hidden costs, small company with very reliable customer service.

Cons: company is small.

Summary: I have nTelos, and I think that the service is awesome. I have Uscellular also, and I have found that I have service in ALL the same places that I do with my US phone. nTelos is having a hard time getting these newer phones, bc the companies are not worried about selling 2000 phones to a small company, when they can turn around and sell Verizon 200,000. You do not want these small cell phone companies to go out of business...by doing this you are FORCED to pay Verizon prices, which most people cannot afford. nTelos offers unlimited plans as low as $50/month...where else can you find that? If you are not happy...go pay $60 somewhere else.

NTELOS Stinks

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: HATER OF NTELOS on Thursday, June 05, 2008
From: Staunton, VA (United States)
Experience: 8 Years
Pros: I have a friend who works there.

Cons: THEY ARE.

Summary: I have been with Ntelos since 2000. Since renewing my contract in December, my new phone has had problems. Even when I based a phone based on overall ratings and not the pretty factor. In the last month and give or take a few weeks, I have cussed more people for the lack of consideration in a contract, which is POSTPAY, and I am sure the smart people using this option have no idea. They provided me with 4 (that is correct) loaner phones over the span of about 3 weeks, which all were not fully functional, denied me a new phone, offered me a brand new "used" phone, and would not even let me purchase another phone at a "contract" or lesser cost. And all of this on top of running around to 3 different locations in my area (spending too much money on gas) about every other day.

I would advise anyone who is looking to check your options and even consider pre-paid or pay as you go plans. At least with those choices, you can back out when you want. I suggest those who have had problems contact the Better Business Bureau.

Horrible Customer Service

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Joanna Adler on Wednesday, April 16, 2008
From: Oakland, CA (United States)
Experience: 1 Days
Pros: ?

Cons: Rude - and perhaps illegal activity

Summary: I own a mail and parcel store (think Mail Boxes Etc but independent) and someone just called me from Ntelos wanting information on a boxholder. I was polite as could be and explained that it is illegal to give out info on customers. The person was sarcastic and rude and obviously doesn't care about the law. I certainly wouldn't want to do business with this company.

Lose your phone

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: joe on Wednesday, March 19, 2008
From: dunbar, WV (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: none

Cons: I lost my phone and the person who found it used it to download 150.00 dollars worth of stuff. You would think that that after you had been with a company for two years and never used brew to downloaded anything they would know it was not you doing it. I called and turned off my phone 24 hours ater i lost it and they still want me to pay!

Summary: Ntelos sucks and just like every other company nowdays their customer service sucks!!!!!
