U.S. Cellular User Reviews
![]() Can't wait for contract to endOverall Rating: By: Suzanne MacGregor on Monday, July 16, 2007From: Campbellsport, WI (United States) Experience: 9 Years Pros: There are plenty of stores in our area to go for help when needed.Cons: We constantly have dropped calls. When customer service was contacted they admitted they knew we lived in a "dead" area and had no plans to improve service for our area. When needing service on a phone we have long waits and they only seem more interested in selling you a new phone over giving you the service you are requesting. Summary: I have been a customer of this service for over 9 years and sometime in the last 2 years customer service and the quality of service has decreased greatly. 35 out of 58 people found this review helpful Hard to contact USCELLOverall Rating: By: robert voigt on Sunday, June 24, 2007From: reinbeck, IA (United States) Experience: 3 Years Cons: The U S Cellular web site has no way for me to send an email. I want to know what they plan to do about the so called spy ware that can be installed in my phone. Can I get a firewall? How am I supposed to stop someone from placing spyware into my cell phone? Is it just so easy to do by just knowing my phone number? I would like some answers.Summary: All in all, I really can't complain about the service I'm getting from U S Cellular. A bit higher in price than what I like. In our area we have 3 or 4 stores, so the reception one gets, depends on which store and which individual you get to talk to. 25 out of 51 people found this review helpful customer service only cares only about bottom lineOverall Rating: By: darren wilson on Thursday, May 31, 2007From: lynchbury, VA (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: good coverage areaCons: phones cost alot customer service not as nice when you are a customer as when you lookingSummary: the stores sell the good used phones to friends only get good rebate when you get easyedge and it is very old and slow and everything on it costs 19 out of 50 people found this review helpful DECENT SERVICEOverall Rating: By: J BL on Wednesday, May 23, 2007From: Bridgeport, WV (United States) Experience: 5 Years Pros: serviceCons: phone selectoion, high price plans, customer serviceSummary: I switched to this carrier from a previous carrier. U.S. Cellular has great coverage but dropped calls occasionally. Phone selection and customer service are the worst. In any U.S. Cellular store mise well have an hour or more to spare to do anything. I switched to a smaller service company with way better plans, cheaper, and same phone selection and better customer service 24 out of 45 people found this review helpful Excellent. Excellent. ExcellentOverall Rating: By: J. D. on Saturday, March 31, 2007From: Grafton, WI (United States) Experience: 3 Years Pros: Great reception everywhere; drop one call about every 6 months. Who knew wireless service could be this great!! Also, great customer service; when you go into a store, they smile and are ready to help you immediately.Cons: Nothing at all!!Summary: US Cellular is the way to go; they take care of their customers. 35 out of 68 people found this review helpful Excellent reception/Terrible Customer Service-Don't Keep Their Word!Overall Rating: By: C L on Wednesday, March 14, 2007From: McFarland, WI (United States) Experience: 9 Years Pros: We travel all throughout Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa and get excellent reception.Cons: Basically Customer Service problems - what their reps told us doesn't hold up and we were charged for nights/weekends even when we were not supposed to be! Much more....Summary: We've been long time customers, even back when they were Cellular One. For the most part, the reception is great and we rarely have dropped calls. Our biggest gripe, and the one that is going to cause us to switch carriers this year is their customer service change. They used to have excellent customer service up until about 1.5 or 2 years ago. Since then, they've changed - when we originally had our first plan we had free nights and weekends (which was an extra with NO expiration date) In the past, we always re-upped our contract with the free nights and weekends with no problems until this past year when we added another phone to our line - they tried to talk us into a diff and more xpensive plan, but we wanted to keep what we had and just add a phone. They didn't like this but said we could. We signed up for another two years thinking we were resigning the same plan we always had which included the free nights/wnkds. So several months later I am scrutinizing our ever-growing cell phone bill (many many pages!!) and discover that they've been charging us extra for nights and weekends since we re-upped our plan! I called them, very upset, and they would NOT reimburse us for this - over $100! They claim they called one of us and told him they were going to charge him for nights and weekends, which is a total lie! Why do they think we would go 'backwards' and agree to, all the sudden just start paying for nights and weekends, instead of the plan we agreed to in their store???? They did immediately restore our free nights and weekends to our plan but I am still upset they would not reimburse us for this money they were not supposed to charge us for in the first place! To me this was very wrong for them to do - I cannot believe they did this! Since this conversation with US Cell, their customer service people have been extremely rude to us, almost as if they were 'getting us back' for complaining to them. Just recently, our bill was due on the 6th day of the month and I had forgot to drop it off on that Friday the 2nd (I drive by their store about once a week, so I drop off payment in person) because I was home from work ill. I came in on the 7th to drop off our checks and had forgotten my employer check (my employer pays for part of my phone bill as I use it for work also - so 3/4 of the bill is paid by me and the balance is a check from my employer) and I told the lady at the desk I'll just mail that check in. She said I'd better call customer service - why? because I was a day late already...... I am thinking 'ooooo only a day late?. So I called and explained I'll mail the partial payment check right away, as I forgot it at home (I was pretty ill still...) and she told me I better not mail it - but I better go right back and drop it off at the store or they would shut my service off and charge us $25/phone to turn ea back on! Then she tells me that by her agreeing to give me the time to drive back to 32 out of 54 people found this review helpful Very reliable serviceOverall Rating: By: Jim Flanagan on Sunday, February 04, 2007From: Aurora, IL (United States) Experience: 5 Years Pros: Excellent service, can't remember the last dropped call that we (me or my wife) had. Good signal strength nearly everywhere I take the phone which is generally the northeastern Ill. area.Cons: Limited phone selection, not enough "free" phones.Summary: We have been customers for over 5 years and will not switch. We have no reason to. We can't find a better deal or better service anywhere else. 42 out of 69 people found this review helpful Best all around service in the areaOverall Rating: By: Ryan Eades on Tuesday, December 12, 2006From: Tulsa, OK (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: I always have good reception inside buildings, elevators, and along most of the major roads and highways. Some I know who have Sprint have to leave my office and go up a flight of stairs to make calls.Cons: They don't offer many cheap/free phones. You almost have to spend over $70 for the better basic phones. Also, for regular plans, roaming charges may apply.Summary: I recently tried T-Mobile and I had what was hailed as their best non-Smart phone out at the time. I had horrible reception and I live in a well-covered part of town. I returned the phone in about 10 days. I have been using a Cingular phone for my business and even when my bars are all full, there is what I would describe as "warbling" of the voice on the other end. Not to mention dropped calls along one of the most traveled highways in town. These two companies have easier access to ringtones and wallpapers - with fast download, but my main purpose for a phone is making clear calls and I believe that right now US Cellular is the way to go. I'd rather pay $100 for a new US Cellular phone than to get a free phone from any GSM netork. I have heard that more GSM towers are going up around here and that there is better reception in different regions for whatever reason. But I have had my current service for almost 4 years and have tried other services without satisfaction. 46 out of 73 people found this review helpful Poor receptionOverall Rating: By: sabrina noland on Wednesday, October 18, 2006From: antioch, IL (United States) Experience: 1 Years Pros: Great plansCons: Lose calls all the time..Summary: I have no luck with us celluar and my phones are always in repair. There are just too many dropped calls. I can make a call to my husband and the phone never rings.... cant wait for my contract to be up to which carriers. 36 out of 72 people found this review helpful U.S. CellularOverall Rating: By: Darcy Moser on Tuesday, October 17, 2006From: Lime Springs, IA (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: Very few dropped calls Friendly customer service Cons: To add family members is more expensive then other carriers. Roaming could be a problem being so close to another state Summary: U.S. Cellular seems to have better reception where I live, close to a border of another state. I have had problems with other carriers dropping because of other towers being close. 34 out of 70 people found this review helpful |
