Verizon Wireless User Reviews
![]() Switching to Verizon was a no brainerOverall Rating: By: Matthew Walker on Sunday, July 08, 2007From: Albuquerque, NM (United States) Experience: 19 Months Pros: Coverage was the biggest reason I switched from Sprint in Dec 05 when my contract was up. With Sprint, coverage was only in major cities and along interstates, otherwise roaming at $0.69 a minute! I understand most Sprint plans now have roaming options, as their native network is not very extensive. I travel around the West quite a bit, and am almost always on the native network. In some rural areas, Verizon has roaming agreements with other carriers, and all my calls count as in network, althCons: Some have mentioned Verizon doesn't have as much phone selection and lags behind in offering the newest, "hippest" phones, and disables some of the features. I use my phone to actually make calls, and buy handsets with the best reception, but without all the fancy features, which I could less about, so it's not an issue to me. And even if it was, there are plenty of things posted on how to "unlock" your phone if you really want to.Summary: I've been toatlly satisified in almost 2 years with Verizon, elgible for "new every 2" in a few months, and have no plans to switch. 15 out of 26 people found this review helpful Nothing but dropped callsOverall Rating: By: Gayle Adcock on Friday, July 06, 2007From: Carrboro, NC (United States) Experience: 7 Years Pros: I can't find any. Cons: I've contacted customer service and technical support on and off for years. They always promise that service will get better in this area. It never does. They've even used cheap tactics, like having hidden antennae near the store in the mall, but when you get outside there's no service. Summary: I've read this company has upgraded it's coverage in other states, especially Georgia, but here in NC it is not good, and customer service just lies and lies to get you to continue with them. The promise of better service never materializes and then they blame the towns for not approving antennae. 14 out of 23 people found this review helpful You get what you pay for- QUALITYOverall Rating: By: Doug Johnson on Monday, July 02, 2007From: Kennewick, WA (United States) Experience: 3 Years Pros: I switched from Cingular to Verizon. Previously had 40% dropped calls. I can't remember last dropped call with Verizon. Friendly customer service has been excellent and product quality and support has been great. Quick to resolve billing questions.Cons: Lag behind competitors in offering the latest in cell phone technology and features. Locked bluetooth functions.Summary: Yes, it may be a more expensive service. However, for reliability and dependability you won't find a better cell phone carrier. You can go with a cheaper provider to save a few bucks, but the savings often equates to poor service and/or poor customer support. 15 out of 26 people found this review helpful Verizon Wireless has best service hands down...Overall Rating: By: Doug Duval on Tuesday, June 19, 2007From: Bristol, CT (United States) Experience: 11 Years Pros: excellent service, customer service (both in store and phone)is excellent and reliable phones.Cons: noneSummary: I would recommend Verizon Wireless over AT&T (Cingular) and Sprint. I have service where these other providers have none and both in store customer service and 800-customer service handles problems right the first time. As I told one AT&T customer service recently (as I have them for my home phone service, ISP and satellite service) as she tried to convince me to switch, you folks may have more towers here in CT, but I have service where you folks don't have service and am treated like a valued customer. 14 out of 26 people found this review helpful Bad BusinessOverall Rating: By: MaryAnn S on Wednesday, June 06, 2007From: Naples, FL (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: Family planCons: No roll over minutes-can't admit THEY made a major mistake.Summary: We had Verizon port a business line (Sprint) to one of our Verizon numbers. They ported it to the wrong phone, and then couldn't fix the problem for 48 hours....so, our business line was out of order. They did admit and apologized for the initial mistake, however didn't have any urgency to get our business line working asap. How much revenue was lost in that 48 hours we'll never know...but a law suit was brewing! One week later, no letter or phone call stating their incompetance or mistake...just another bill. This is the last straw, we'll go to a company that will WANT our business. 11 out of 20 people found this review helpful Phone Service Works Great, can call nationwide without a long distance charge, but Bluetooth crippled and no text message whitelist featureOverall Rating: By: A Szczybor on Sunday, June 03, 2007From: South Riding, VA (United States) Experience: 6 Years Pros: Phone Works very well, WAS able to send picture (or video) messages via emailCons: Could not implement a text message whitelist or blacklist to block out spam, elected to shut the feature off. Stuck in a 2 year contract.Summary: If you want to get a phone for more than a phone (i.e, sending text and/or picture messages), I cannot currently recommend Verizon. I started to received spam on my phone. I looked through my account settings on-line and talked to customer service. The only two options I had for sending/receiving messages was ON or OFF. Because I hate spam with a passion, and refuse to pay to receive spam, I had it turned OFF. When my contract is up for renewal, I am thinking of taking my phone number elsewhere. 13 out of 22 people found this review helpful Great Company IF YOU HAVE DEEP POCKETSOverall Rating: By: Consumer B. on Saturday, June 02, 2007From: Raleigh, NC (United States) Experience: 5 Months Pros: Not many dropped calls. Connection is excellent. Flexible payment optionsCons: Too Expensive. They Charge TWICE for taxes(hidden fees)Summary: I always knew they had the best coverage and network. No free incoming minutes(unless it's IN NETWORK), We were told differently. Overall I wish I had never switched from my previous phone carrier.... At least I had free incoming minutes! EasyMove feature was not easy at all: 1-they failed to notify me that their attempts to apply my discount code have failed.... after a month of phone calls, it was reapplied but at a lower rate..? 2- Also, I had to establish a NEW account, since it was a different billing zone, and new rules apply... I found out 45 days later, and after many phonecalls to customer service. What was Easy about the Move? 20 out of 26 people found this review helpful Good Phone Company, but ExpensiveOverall Rating: By: Sam G. on Thursday, May 31, 2007From: Louisville, KY (United States) Experience: 2 Years Pros: They offer many plans to fit your daily life. Verizon also offers many services, such as internet, text messaging, video and music downloads, ringtones, games, and much more now that they have Vcast and mobile TV. Call quality is good mostly everywere. Customer service can be good at times, but depends. Cons: I get about 10 or less dropped calls about every month, and call quality drops sometimes. All their services are expensive, such as the VCast pack, which is about $15 a month, plus music and video downloading fees (another plan is $3 dollars a day, plus fees). Text messaging is about $5 dollars a month too, and internet is another $5 dollars. Most of their ringtones and games are too overvalued and you are better off downloading them off the internet to your phone. When I visited customer seSummary: Verizon is a good phone company. They offer many services, but they are all too expensive. This company is recommended for bussiness men/women, and big families. But if you are a big texter, talker, gamer, or whatever, you are better off with helio, sprint, or other companies that offer similar services. Overall, if you want to use this company, you have to keep your plan simple if you don't want to spend over $80 dollars. 18 out of 24 people found this review helpful It would take A LOT to make me switch!Overall Rating: By: aldkjlajd slkjdflkj on Tuesday, May 29, 2007From: Jacksonville, FL (United States) Experience: 8 Years Pros: Amazing service - anything goes wrong, just find the closest store. Better plan based on my usage? I get a text msg asking if I want to upgrade! And now one-up available - I can get a new phone every 6 months at the contract price w/o changing my plan!!!Cons: Just wish they were GSM so had convenience of SIM cards and international roaming... they do have a rent a phone service if going overseas for a long period of time.Summary: The coverage is fantastic, the service is great, the people in the stores and on the phones are always knowledgable and helpful. Can check your minutes at any time with #MIN and upgrade your roaming capabilities regularly with #ACT. I have a work and personal VZ phones and often wind up letting friends "borrow" one of my phones b/c of their poor coverage w/ Sprint and Cingular. And with my entire family on VZ phones we can talk as often and as long as we like thanks to Mobile-2-Mobile built into the plans. 12 out of 23 people found this review helpful greediest phone companyOverall Rating: By: jean placide on Wednesday, May 23, 2007From: miami, FL (United States) Experience: 4 Years Pros: good call quality.Cons: priciest phone service.Summary: I chose verizon partly because they were comparable, in prices ,to the other phone companies.since then, they dropped canada in their coverage.they charge $175.00 termination fee for eah phone on a family plan of three phones which they never mentioned before signing a contract.they claim that one contract on family plan of three phones amounts to three separate contracts. This seems to be a trend with VERIZON. 10 out of 21 people found this review helpful |
