My New Candid Kyocera Cricket Phone

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Michelle Chiles on Tuesday, October 09, 2007
From: Winston-Salem, NC (United States)
Experience: 3 Months
Pros: The phone is goo for going out of town.

Cons: It's not good when you slam the phone and when you open it back up the screen goes blank.

Summary: My Review is that the cricket phone does a lot. For example the cricket takes pictures and it also sends your picture to your e-mail for you. The cricket also lets you download songs .And the kind of cricket I got is a Kyocera Cricket.

Kyocera KX16 Candid cell phone

Overall Rating:
2.5 out of 5
By: Donald Von Wald on Friday, April 13, 2007
From: Aberdeen, SD (United States)
Experience: 7 Months
Pros: very user friendly phone

Cons: the display stopped working after 7 months. It's still under warranty but it makes me wonder about the long term durability.

Summary: It has been a good phone and I would recommend it to others as a good basic phone.

Pretty good so far!

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: O Omen on Tuesday, February 27, 2007
From: Dallas, TX (United States)
Experience: 30 Days
Pros: Camera (hey, it's a phone, not a camera.)
Colour Screen.
External LCD.
Pretty good variety of features.
Durable.

Cons: User manual not very detailed (have to find some of the short cuts on your own).
Can be a little glitchy sometimes.
Have to do surgery to change face plates.

Summary: My family has had 2 of these phones for over a month and hasn’t really found any problems with the phone itself. I have had a great deal of problems, but they are with Alltel NOT the phone. They were not setup properly when they left Alltel and I’ve had to talk to Alltel technical support several times now (very annoying!).

The only problem I have encountered so far was trying to make a photo into wallpaper and it would restart itself sometimes when I tried. The people at Alltel couldn’t give me an answer, although they did tell me to run an update on the software from my phone (so if you have an old Candid, you might want to check and see if you have the latest software update on your phone). The answer was that the size of pictures I was taking was wrong, when I fixed that I could make my photos into wallpaper with no problems. My husband’s phone hasn’t had any problems or glitches at all.

I’ve read complaints that the Kyocera Candid has no games, but aha, it does! According to the User’s Manual on the Kyocera website it has games, but they may not be available on your phone, check with your service provider. What I discovered is that many service providers remove the games so that you have to pay from them. Not the phone’s fault, just the crappy service providers.

I haven’t had a problem yet with battery life, but since pretty much all batteries develop a memory I’ll keep an eye on it.

Overall I give this phone a good grade; it was good for the price (free) and for what I use it for. I don’t really like to text, so I wasn’t too worried about that feature. I’m also not interested in spending hundreds of dollars on a phone just because it’s “cool”, it’s a phone, it makes phone call, enough said.

By: Carole Holmes on Wednesday, October 11, 2006
From: hackett, AR (United States)
Experience: 6 Months
Pros: has a decent camera, easy to use, and shos time on the front of phone

Cons: hard to text on

Summary: this was the first Kyrocera phone i have had since this one i went on to buy a second which i found much easier to text on the Kyrocera Strobe, however the candid was easy to use if your not use to texting, downloading, and using features on the phone like speed dial, i also liked that you can make the phone where you cant use it while roaming that was a nice plus saves me a few times :) anyway i think this phone is a good value for the price i paid for it :)

By: Sarah Nicholson on Sunday, October 01, 2006
From: Byesville, OH (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Blue buttons, camera, small, very popular, has all the extras on it

Cons: sometimes turns off when you dont want it to, scratches easily

Summary: I love my cell phone but there could be better. I take my cell phone everywhere.I dont know what I would do without it. But sometimes it just dont want to work the way I want it to. I would like to have a cell phone that accually stays on when I want it on and goes off when I want it to go off.

Kyocera Candid Camera Phone

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Carlene Say on Monday, September 25, 2006
From: Tucson, AZ (United States)
Experience: 10 Months
Pros: It's compact and light weight. Easy open and close, numbers are easy to see and use. Can go directly to camera mode with one touch, can adjust volumn without opening the phone, charger plugs in easely, sleek black and silver design, antenna thick so it doesn't bend or break

Cons: There is really nothing I don't like about my phone. I have nothing bad to say.

Summary: I have recommended this phone to others alot. I've had it almost a year now and will keep it and continue using it. Others have checked the phone and they like it also and have stated they would like to get one also. There have been some who never saw it before and are looking for a new phone so I believe they might have bought one of these.

Kyocera Candid phone

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5
By: Robin Foster on Thursday, September 21, 2006
From: Pensacola, FL (United States)
Experience: 3 Years
Pros: I am not cell phone "savvy" but this flip phone is easy to use, has a good display and lots of standard ring tones.

Cons: Speaker volumn doesn't go high enough for me - can't hear it when it's in my purse.

Summary: Overall, I'm happy with my phone, I have had 2 Kyocera flip phones over the last several years and always enjoyed the good quality of them. My only complaint was when my first phone just up and fried one day, didn't have a chance to retrieve my phonebook.

The Candid Rocks

Overall Rating:
3.5 out of 5
By: Thomas Van Tress on Thursday, August 31, 2006
From: Phoenix, AZ (United States)
Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Very easy interface, able to do a lot of functions without having to go into the main menu, allows user to easily set up group texting, quick dialing from phonebook was a breeze by typing the first letters of their name. very useful when driving. also allows voice calling with voice recognition software. connected easily with mobile phone tools for me PC.

Cons: Lose screen in bright sunlight. some of the ringtones too low to hear in loud situations. buttons were too small for texting rapidly. range of antenna should be better.

Summary: This phone has served me and my family well. Camera is mediocre but useful when forgetful minds forget the regular camera. Definitely have to buy the car charger as when doing multiple functions it would drain the battery much quicker.

Kyocera KX16 Candid

Overall Rating:
2.2 out of 5
By: Jenny Combs on Sunday, August 13, 2006
From: Avawam, KY (United States)
Experience: 8 Months
Pros: It's pretty

Cons: it constantly jams
it freezes when you power it on
it loses contacts
the numbers stick together
it drops calls because I have it set for digital only and it keeps going back to analog
you have to charge the phone twice daily because the battery life is just TERRIBLE

Summary: This is the absolute WORST phone I have ever had. I have went through 4 of these since December 30, 2005. It is now August 13, 2006. That is pretty bad. Should I go on, or does everyone see my point? DO NOT BUY THE KYOCERA KX16 CANDID!!!!!

Don't agree with what people told me about this phone.

Overall Rating:
3.8 out of 5
By: Dean Thicket on Tuesday, January 24, 2006
From: Oregon, WI (United States)
Experience: 10 Days
Pros: Cool compact design, good camera, easy to use.

Cons: Haven't found any...

Summary: Before I got the Kyocera KX16 phone everyone said the battery and camera were bad on the phone, but when I got it they worked better than any other phone I had in my life. They also said that Kyocera was not the best manufacturer of cell phones and I agree, but not with this phone! So far I love it.
