Features Galore

4.7 out of 5
By: Ian Badeer on Thursday, October 04, 2007From: Lincoln, NE (United States)
Experience: 4 Months
Pros: Features:
Voice Quality: Call Quality is slightly above average for a phone of this price.
Reception: Fights hard to maintain a digital signal even when traveling through mountainous areas.
Internet: Maintains a solid 115Kbps connection even when driving in a car so that you can surf the internet wirelessly using your phone.
Bluetooth: Dependable and works fine with headsets up to 20ft away.
Expandable memory slot: Detected MicroSD cards from 16MB to 1GB and had them ready for usCons: The side button for volume (when held down) will change the phone from ringer to vibrate. The button goes off constantly when put into a side pouch, and after months of use, still switches between modes far too easily. The disadvantage here is that you may think that you've set your phone to vibrate in a meeting, but once you've put it away, the button gets pressed and it silently activates the ringer.
The phone's software does not support sending objects over a bluetooth connection. ThiSummary: The KX5 is not the most attractive phone on the market; it's bulky, awkward, and looks weird when being held up to your ear. Looks aside, this is an amazing phone. With great durability, call quality, and mp3 support, this is a phone that does more than it should. I've tested 40 different phones in the past 6 months, and this one is definitely top-tier.
