The LG Dare is the latest touchscreen bar phone offered by Verizon. Key features include a full media player, HTML browser, Email support, stereo Bluetooth, expandable memory card slot, 3.2 megapixel camera, handwriting recognition, adjustable Text Size for menus, messaging, and dialing, and turn by turn GPS.

What’s Good: Attractive, highly customizable UI with home screen shortcuts; Compact design with high-res touchscreen; HTML Web browser and Email app with EV-DO Rev A support; VCAST Music and Video Support; Rhapsody streaming music support; 3.2 MP camera with flash and VGA video capture; 3.5mm headphone jack; Accelerometer and proximity sensor

What’s Not Good: “Full HTML” Web browser is mildly disappointing; Touchscreen can take a bit of getting used to; No VCAST TV support

Bottom Line: Dare is the best multimedia phone Verizon currently offers and the best cameraphone they’ve ever offered. It may well be the best cameraphone available from any US carrier right now, as well. Though the touchscreen is smaller than those of its competitors (iPhone, Instinct, and Vu come to mind), it’s bright, clear, and relatively responsive. If you don’t need QWERTY or VCAST TV, Dare is the best feature phone on VZW, and arguably the best media-rich handset currently available on a US carrier.

The Dare is a featurephone, not a smartphone, so if you were hoping to manage email effectively or keep up with your appointments, you're probably better off sticking with one of those Big Kids phones -- even if the Dare's messaging and contact integration is admirable.

I just got my LG DARE but the battery would not take a charge. It would die in about 2 hours so I bought a new battery it takes a little longer to die but it will die in about 4 hours. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my phone or do I need to buy a new one?

so is there a physical hold button/lock key? how do you keep the dare from calling people after rubbing around in your purse or pocket?

Yes, on the side of the LG Dare there is a button that u push to lock it so u want call/text people while its in your pocket or purse.

Hey all! I have the Dare and so far am liking it. I am still getting used to the touch screen texting but it seems to be getting better everyday I use it. My question is this: I want to designate a certain ring tone to incoming text messages. On my old phone I was able to give anyone a ring tone for both calls and texts. This is really important to me because I recivie many many texts in any given 24 hour peroid. Please email me with any suggestions: RandaPandaNoVA@aol.com

I'm looking at getting either a LG Dare or a Samsung Instinct.
I only use my phone for calls, sometime camera, and I would really like to incorporate a calendar/agenda (to replace broken Palm). I don't text, and do all my emails and web-browsing from my laptop, not my phone. Any suggestions as to which is better?

I am considering the Dare for my next phone but am still unsure about the touch screen. I like the feel of real keys when texting but the voyager seems too bulky. The Dare seems to be the right size for me. Any comments on the Dare's qwerty touch screen?

You should get the env touch.
it has a real keyboard & touch screen
plus its definetly not as bulky
as the voyager

Pros: Everything, the touch screen is VERY acurate, music and speaker, picture wuality, camera, video, personalization, call quality, texting, battery, design, EVERYTHING!

Cons: None. Video is a Tiny bit pixely but i can live with it.

Summary: Great phone, you wont regret it, no mistakes or anything. Battery life is good if you over use you'll still have half or 3/4 bars left. GREAT futures, fun to use and the touch screen is awesome! I love the camera and everything else. I would recommend to everyone.

Pros: Nice camera. Very user friendly. Easy customization. Great look and durable. Texting is great after you get used to it.

Cons: The web is very hard to navigate around.

Summary: Over all I think this phone is solid. There's abundh of cool features on this phone like you can handwrite your texts. And you can take videos at 1200 frames per second and can play of back in slow mo. The camera is 3.2 mega pixels. Also the phone feels great. It's not as long as the instinct and not as fat as the voyager. Great phone I recomend it.

Pros: Good size, nice sound quality, camera phone

Cons: Slower touch screen, often hit thew wrong keys

Summary: The LG Dare was one of the best phones i've ever used. It is very neat to say the least. It can run kind of slow at times but overall is a very good touchj screen phone from Verizon. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice touch screen phone at affordable price.
