LG Shine-CU720 Cell Phone
If it was for sale it'd cost two grand. But it's not for sale. Well, maybe. It's the gold-plated Iron Man phone from LG - think Shine in red with extra bling.
LG has announced that they'll turn up their efforts to market high end phones in emerging markets this year, and that they're all but giving up on the lower end of the handset marketplace. Korea Times reported the story along with the news that the electronics giant launched the Venus-like KF600 handset in Brazil and China.

This comes in handy when you need a flashlight and may not have one with you or right near you when you need it. I Hope this is a useful trick. Starting today find the LG Shine available with a new AT&T calling plan for only $69.99 from online authorized dealer Let's Talk. The LG Shine CU720 slider style cell phone is 3G enabled with a large QVGA display. Other great features include a 2 megapixel camera phone, expandable memory card slot, music player, video recorder, and voice dialing.
So take advantage today of the great special offer from Let's Talk for the LG... LG's KE970 "Shine" is one of the most gorgeous mobile phones - nay, one of the most gorgeous handheld objects - I've ever come across. I drooled over it at CES in Vegas this past January, and again at CTIA in Orlando in March. I tend to favor a combination of features and style in my gadgets, but from the moment I first saw Shine's TFT display emerge from beneath it's mirrored front panel, I was in love. It almost didn't matter what Shine... Shine boasts a solid feature set, and being an unlocked/unbranded handset, it ships without any "carrier deck" items (Cingular Music, Sprint TV, Verizon VCast, etc.). This is either a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. From my point of view, it makes for a clean look and feel without a bunch of unwanted carrier logos. Most WAP-based carrier services can still be accessed by setting up browser bookmarks. ... Pros: Picture memory- without a memory card, havent reached a limit yet, and all the editing tools for the pictures, the ability to create GIF's, durable Cons: battery life, cannot see screen well in daylight, small, razr-ish keyboard, bad sound quality, some things like the alarm clock having weird features and ringing at random times if you don't turn it off the first time Summary: This phone is a good one. The features are all standard, it's pretty durable; I am not kind to my phones. The speaker is not loud at all, it is hard to type on the keypad unless you have long nails, and even harder to touch the CALL, CANCEL, and END buttons, but the joystick is o.k once you get used to it. There is always a lot of sunlight out, and I can barely read it, I have to cover the screen. I would NOT reccomend this phone for texting, business, anything like that. It's a normal, simple phone, with its' only gimmick: a mirror. Pros: Huge screen, sexy mirror, great music player, cool but tricky joystick, metal caseing. Cons: Screen gets fingerprints easily, small razrlike keypad Summary: I got this phone two weeks ago, and i havent missed my nokia 6085 since. i hated that phone and i cant believe how great this phone is! it is so cheap for such a great phone! lg is a great company and i will get all of my future phones frmo them, however i will be sticking with this phone for a long time. o yeah, i dropped it off the balcany of my house and it landed on congrete. not on scrath! this is a sturdy phone! if u love sexy phones and want great features, such as great camera and mp3 player, i really suggest getting this great phone! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: Pretty Well built Cons: Poor voice recognition Poor ergnomics Hard to read screen in sunlight Frequent dropped calls Short battery life Summary: I bought this phone to satisfy basic phone needs. Primary among my requirements was voice dial ability, which the LG CU-720 Shine appeared to have. After going through the manual and setup, it looked very intuitive. What I have since discovered is that the Shine's voice recognition engine software is marginal at best. The Shine's responses to verbal and button input related to voice dialing is unpredictable and a source of immense frustration. Since it cannot be trained to specific names (only about 6 commands can be voice trained, no names) the Shine voice recognition engine tries to figure out who you are calling and roughly 50% of the time gets it wrong, repeatedly. This problem is partly due to the phone being very sensitive to environmental background noise such as wind. The voice recognition software pronunciation is limited and the vocal interpretation of some names is incomprehensible ("Shawn" is pronounced something like "schuwweet"). People who have listened when I attempted to voice dial (I have no discernible accent) thought that it was more trouble that it is worth. Then they see just how small and flat the number keys are (a lot like my old Motorola L6)and they understand why I don't use them instead. The speaker phone is quite loud but electronically distorted. The 5 way joystick/Navigation key is extemely short and overly sensitive which makes selecting functions difficult and texting a nightmare. You have to use your fingernails to carefully push it from side to side and often it will select "OK" rather than right or left. The 5-way joystick has been a constant source of irritation and noise in that when the Shine is in you pocket the button is so sensitive that any other items in your pocket (or purse) will hit the key and set off a beep (telling you that the keyboard is locked and to unlock it). In fact I have had in my otherwise empty pants pocket and have it beep at me because I bent over and the button got pushed. This constant input on the 5-way joystick is probably why the battery life has declined to around 24hrs before expiring. Worst of all, if that is possible, is that trying to slide the top open is nearly impossible using one hand to operate the phone. There are no friction surfaces on the top and all the available edges are softly rounded and shallow. You have to grab the sides of the top with one hand while holding the bottom with the other to slide the top. In fact the only surface that you can push on to slide the top up is the mirrored display (the rest of the upper surface is buttons which you don't want to push on) which then becomes greasy and even less legible. I have had difficulty with the Shine's reception in areas where it should not be a problem. Dropped calls have occurred too frequently. The signal strength indicator will show 4 bars one moment and then 1 or less the next without the phone being moved. However it is a very durable phone, that I have tested extens 3 out of 8 people found this review helpful Pros: Sleek looking, sturdy feeling, good call reception, good photo quality Cons: Kinda hard to see screen if it's really bright outside, touchy joystick Summary: I just got this phone a week ago, and I have put it to the test! I has very good service on AT&T's new 3g network. Extremely user friendly. The sound quality while talking is great! (Just make sure you don't put your hand over the antenna which is the bottom of the phone!) The music setting is pretty nice, however it isn't compatible with MP4's which has created a problem for me. I love the look... (I got the red one) Overall a pretty good phone and I am extremely satisfied with it! 29 out of 46 people found this review helpful All LG Shine-CU720 user reviewsDoes anyone know any tricks for the Shine? If not, any tricks for LG phones in general? So many people complain about the joystick but it's really not that bad. To minimize using the joystick when searching in your phone is simple. Go to your settings then choose display and after choosing display choose menu styles then choose list. Once in list mode instead of scrolling with the joystick simply push the number of what you want. For example I want to access my music: I push menu then the number 5 to access At&t... i made a quick video to show u my lg shine's tips and tricks so enjoy!!hope i can be on the phonedog website..........ty guys for giving me a chancejayeshmonga@yahoo.com is my email if u need to.....heres a link to my video that i madehttp://picasaweb.google.c...
