I headed to NYC to check out T-Mobile's new 3G data network. Doug and I pit the Samsung t819 against AT&T's LG Vu in a Mobile Web speed test. Doug and I run a speed test in Brooklyn: iPhone on EDGE vs Vu on 3G vs t819 on T-Mobile's new 3G network. Noah heads out to Brooklyn, NY and up to Doug's roof to check out AT&T Mobile TV on the LG Vu. This may be the coolest new handset of the year so far. LG's Vu is a touchscreen phone with a 2MP camera, media player, 3G data, and AT&T's new Mobile TV service. I unbox it and give a quick overview. Thanks for making all the great phone review videos, it really gives me a general idea of what is good and not so good when is comes to the cellular market. I actually work at an AT&T store in WA, and I currently have a dealer line through AT&T but for some idiotic reason they won't let me use the iphone on my dealer line. So what I was wondering is how comparable is the LG Vu to the iphone, when it comes down to general... There's a nice post from the other day on JK On the Run warning smartphone makers to "Wake up and smell the Applesauce." The gist of it is this: It doesn't matter whether or not Geeks find every feature they want in iPhone 3G, because it's so easy to use that people who have no idea what a smartphone is will be using it to surf the Web and check Email on the go. Nokia and Sony Ericsson can keep hardcore phone nerds excited with 8... Apple may have disappointed some phone geeks by leaving a few badly wanted features off of the new iPhone 3G, but in typical Apple fashion they're looking past the specific desires of a few in order to set their sights squarely on luring more of the masses into the Cult of iPhone. Could Apple have added MMS messaging, stereo Bluetooth support, and a decent camera (with flash) to the new iPhone's redesign without sacrificing the grander... According to a recent survey from CNN, mobile TV took the honors of most-wanted feature for consumers on their mobile phones. Have no fear, there are some great options rolling out on the market for those seeking a little portable on-screen entertainment. Check out two picks below from AT&T and Verizon.

Pros: Stylish, good call quality, ok internet access, TV works if you want that feature, relatively cheap. Cons: The QWERTY keyboard button on the touchscreen are too small to hit accurately for most people, the scrolling is horrible (opposite of the iphone). It will lock up randomly a few times every day, very annoying b/c you have to remove the battery. Summary: My LG Vu just died, the touch screen stopped responding. Needless to say, this is a pain. I've had it 13 months, one month past the warranty. Did an internet search on Google and discovered that this is very very common. The phone used to freeze up frequently, the touchscreen is more of an annoyance than a convenience. The small touch screen buttons were really frustrating too. I should be more upset that I have to buy a new phone, but I'm actually kind of relieved to be able to move on. I would NOT buy this phone again. Summary: I played with the floor model in the ATT store for a long time before deciding to buy this phone.You really must work with it a lot to learn the features but it is worth it. These reviews and the fact that I could get it for 50 bucks after rebate convinced me to buy it. I'am glad I did 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful Pros: For a pressure touch screen, it registers very well. Battery life is somewhat lacking, but I keep bluetooth and anything not needed off, so it is fairly good when on bare minimum. The possibilities with this phone is great, you just need to have good sources. I myself have different themes (Blackberry, iPhone, Slide, Walkman) so this phone never gets too stale. The phone is very overall sturdy, as I have dropped it multiple times while trying to put it in my pocket, with no cosmetic or mechanica Cons: The touchscreen motions are somewhat odd. The scrolling is reverse of most phones. I noticed that if you have a long list on a screen, when you glide, it tends to scroll way to fast. I personally do not like "glossy" phones, as they tend to get dirty quickly because dirt, smudge, and oil likes to cling to things that are shiny. If you didn't sign up for the TV thing, then you also have a pointless antenna (I, however, turned mine into a stylus.) I also do not like the call/call end buttons. Summary: Overall, a sturdy and nice phone. You just have to be patient, give it some time, and do some tweaks here and there in order to customize it and satisfy your phone cravings. Take advice from someone who had the LG Vue, it's not at all a great touchscreen phone. I could go on and on listing my dislikes about the Vu, LG didn't take their time, they simply through together a cheap, unresponsive touch screen phone. And I would not recommend it for anyone. On the other hand Samsung is known for quality phones, so i'd choose from their selection. how good is the quickfire? the good and the bad about it. i might be getting one If i was you i would either go for the lg xenon or samsung eternity. th lg vu has a small touchscreen that is not as responsive as the other two phones. So if you want a touch screen phone make sure it has a decently sized screen. But anyway thats my opinion and try those phones out and see what you like best. Its mostly personal taste that counts. Vu is a great phone defenetly when it comes to AT&T's CV service. The thing about LG products is theres always something defective with them as far as the software goes.. If you like a full touch screen phone.. something that dosen't require a data package I would look into the Samsung Eternity. Samsung really does a great job on making things faster and easier defenetly with that widget bar.
It's only about $30 to $50 more dollars depending... Hey there. It's hard to tell you what to get, since everyone's tastes are different. All I can tell you is what my preferences are. I like the slim form factor of the Vu, since it seems more "pocketable." It would stink to have to dig it out a big phone everytime I want to launch some tunes. But I am a sucker for a full hardware QWERTY keyboard. (I'm on an iPhone now, and as much as I love it, I've gotta say that I curse the thing everytime I... I've heard that the VU sucks no offense.......stick w/ the Dare, it has better specs and some friends who have it say it's amazing(: yeah i have it and it is a really good phone. i've had it for 6 months and i still like it The Dare, It Has Wayy Better Features, And The Vu is a boring simple phone with a touch screen Buying choicesWith new service  With pre-paid service This item is not being sold with a pre-paid service service plan by any online merchant.
