Motorola i580 Cell Phone

Cons: Poor texting ability. Bad camera. Lack of features. Outdated.

Summary: While this phone has done its job well for me over the years, it cannot compete in today's market. With phones like the iPhone and Storm, the qualities of the i580 are dwarfed. And when other phones can withstand being dropped multiple times without being rugged, it gets cast under the wind.



Obviously, the phone still has its good parts. It is extremelly durabel. Over two years, I have smashed my phone under bricks, dropped it, ran it under water, sent it through the wash, and had a "football" catch on concrete. None of these slowed this phone down. Recently, the front screen died, but that was most likely due to a battery issue or something along those lines. The phone also has an easy interface. The menu is clear and easy to use, and overall there is not much wrong with that. Also, this thing is like a flashlight, and I have used it to illuminate some of the darkest spaces around


But texting and other things show this phone its flaws. It can be near impossible to text when the phone starts to decide what you are going to say next. The camera is garbage, and I have never gotten a clear shot in my life. Standard feautres on many phones today are almost not usable on this phone.


I highly recomend it for existing Nextel users who are on a job site. It is durable and can withstand hits and falls. The push to talk, or "bleep" as I call it works fine, and one of the best ways to get a hold of someone quicly. But to switch to this phone for its pizazz is stupid. Its a tough phone thats pretty easy to use.
