Samsung Gravity T459 Aqua Cell Phone
Messaging phones are cool, but how can you choose one when they all look the same? Noah checks out two full QWERTY phones that look alike but perform quite differently: It's a DogFight between the Samsung Gravity for T-Mobile and the Samsung Rant for Sprint. Out of the box and into the paws with T-Mobile's new messaging phone. The Samsung Gravity features a slide-out QWERTY board, myFaves support, mobile IM & Email, and a camera. Well, they went through with it. Samsung Mobile executed its wacky scheme to set the Guinness World Record for "Fastest Text Messaging While Skydiving" last Friday, December 20. Professional skydivers texted while freefalling from 12,000 feet during the Samsung Mobile XTREME TEXTING event outside Los Angeles. They team used a range of Samsung Mobile messaging phones—including the Propel, Gravity, Rant, Alias and Messager—to text the following... The Samsung T459, also known as the Gravity, is available in aqua and lime. This 1.3 megapixel camera phone has a slide out QWERTY keyboard for easy messaging, stereo Bluetooth, along with video capture. Stay tuned as we will continue to update the specs as they become available.
T-Mobile's got your friends and family in mind for the season, and has announced a fresh line-up designed to keep you in touch. They're offering three new phones for taking pictures, texting, and gifting, plus a digital picture frame that uses a SIM card. Add to this another Companion Flights airline promotion, and you've got a pretty good recipe for happy T-Mo holidays. First, I want to get to the cameo. It's a picture frame with a phone... Cons: when the time changed on Sunday the phone changed all of my appointments to one hour earlier. Also hard to hear person speaking to you if you are experiencing any kind of background noise. Summary: With the time change not only did the phone change the clock time it also changed all of my appointments in my calender to one hour earlier. They don't have a quick fix so I have to change each one and then so that it won't happen next time change i changed the clock setting to manual time change for next spring. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful Pros: Amazing speaker for music and speaker phone, visually appealing, low cost, easy to navigate menus, easy to change settings, battery life is low but charge time is very fast, expandable and hotswapable memory with micro SD Cons: Keyboard too small and flat, numerical keypad unresponsive and hard to push at times, various internal and functional problems(read summary), battery life is awful(read in a comment they've fixed that, can't confirm), receives poor service from provider, no standard 3.5 mm headphone jack or usb dongle. Music player is set up so you can only listen to 50 song playlists at a time and cannot run music in background. Summary: At first this phone was a nice replacement from the sad excuse of a sidekick known as the iD. For the first few days this phone was so much better then my iD. The keyboard is a little hard to adjust to, especially because of the size difference compared to my old sidekick. This was about the only complaint I had for the first day or two. Not too long after using this phone the low battery life became more obvious. I am always texting and this was one thing the phone's battery couldn't handle. A two or three page text ran a full battery down two bars and picture messages can sometimes take a few minutes to fully send due to poor service, this has eaten up three bars from a full battery. This problem is made a little better because of a short charging rate and the last bar on the battery seems to hold longer then the first four. Another thing I noticed is that over the next few months of use more and more functional problems would pop up while using the phone. Examples of these problems include double typing letters with one keystroke, space bar unresponsive, numerical pad very unresponsive, screen freezes after slide and displays both the portrait and landscape display at the same time, random shut down, dropped calls even with good reception, other line not hearing me during phone calls, no alert for calls, and more recently the contact name "mom" was displayed for any call and text I received. The last problem only occurred for a few hours. Some of the problems haven't happened in a while like the display freezing and random shut down. Some happen all the time like dropped calls, numerical pad being unresponsive, space bar being unresponsive, and one key stroke double typing letters. Another problem with the phone is that it's casing scratches easy. I've only dropped this phone once from a height of two feet and the phone had many small hacks and scratches on the edge of the phone also the battery cover gets small thin scratches very easy, like from buttons near the outside of jean pockets. One thing I have noticed with quite a few Samsung phone's is that they don't receive reception well from the wireless provider. This results in messages not sending, picture messages rarely working, and many dropped calls. Lastly, one thing that really bugged me that could have improved the battery life slightly is that the full qwerty still illuminates if the phone is closed and you push a button on the front. This bothered me because if both keypads are lit up for an extensive amount of time this could contribute to the poor battery life and the full qwerty has no purpose for being lit when you can't even see it. The only pros are listed in pros section. Who would I recommend this phone to? First time full qwerty users who are looking for an inexpensive phone. 2 out of 6 people found this review helpful Pros: ok so the samsung gravity is a really great phone i mean its awesome Cons: the only bad things i can think about is the music speaker and how u can click out of your music and still lisen to it you cant do that with this phine and the battery i mean its ok Summary: the samsung gravity lime is a all around good phone its great everyone says it has a bad battery but i mean think about it this phone is a texting phone and if you do texting like i do i mean u should with this phone unless theirs no reason to have the phone but this is a texting phone which uses alot if battery and then the music it takes some of the batery but what phone that dosent have these features dosent have a battery that isnt awesome its like very good 1 out of 3 people found this review helpful Pros: Great messaging phone -nice keyboard -easy user interface Cons: -bad battery life(can be fixed however) -cant make pictures full size wallpaper -battery icon isnt always true Summary: Well, to start out with! with the other user reviews, they all said that the battery life is bad, that is very true, however if you call T-Mobile and tell them that your battery isnt lasting less then day they should send you a new battery! after that (maybe once or twice) the phone should hold a charge of at least 5-7 days! it really depends on how much good recption (Ex: all bars all the time=long battery life or always searching for a signal=3-4 days of battery life! Other then that there isnt real any major problem! This is a great gift for a teenager because they just live and love to text all the time! 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful Pros: Roomy QWERTY keyboard 1.3 MP camera with photo frames Nice color Dedicated messaging button Raised number buttons Cons: Not the greatest battery life Your own pictures do not fill up screen for wallpaper Bulky Very basic menu Entry level phone Summary: Overall, the Samsung Gravity T459 is a pretty good phone. The keyboard fells very sturdy and is very roomy as compared to the Samsung Rant. The color combinations are nice ubt it is still a very basic phone. With T-Mobilenot many phones with a full QWERTY keyboard that are reasonably priced. When it comes to setting your own pictures as your wallpaper, the rotating screen makes it almost impossible to cover the entire screen which is kind pf a disappointment. Overall I think that this is a pretty good phone. 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful All Samsung Gravity T459 Aqua user reviewsI just got this phone yesterday, dude, $30.00.
It's great, I mean it's not web compatible, but it does have a text based email that is awsome and great IM service.
Upgrade and get it unless you have the money for the G1, get that over this but this is the second best... the 08 has video recording and the lx donent definitely go with the sidekick over the gravity...i'd get the 2008 over the lx, lx is big and clunky but the 2008/lx both function basically the same, but whatever you do, do NOT get the gravity which is better i have the gravity which works great and my sister has the sidekick 2008 which is also great.but which is better??? please right back. it really depends on preference if you want touchscreen and camera go behold if you wat texting and qwerty go gravity
I don't know which one to get. I am a 13 year old guy. This will be my first phone. All I need is call/text, but some cool features might be nice. Which one should I get?!
Gravity - Really just a regular cell phone with a QWERTY keyboard. I got one for my 10 year old, primarily for texting. Keyboard feels cramped and plasticky to me (I'm a G1 user) but its functional; my kid likes it and finds the G1 big and bulky. Go... The behold is nice but if you want a mainly texting phone and calling, get a g1, gravity, or curve 2 Ok, well then there's your answer! :)Enjoy your new phone... Thanks. But I would only use the phone for texting/calling, so the Gravity would be better.I think......
