Pros: Shape, color, feel, battery life, reception.Cons: Texting, shuts itself off at will.Summary: I really wanted to like this phone. Except for the shutting itself off problem, I'd still like it. I've had the phone since July of 2008. Until a few months ago, the only complaint I had about the phone was the functionality of the texting. When I get a long text message that is broken up into 2 or 3 pages, I can't just scroll through to the second page. I select the first page, read it, then I have to selet "Back", press down to highlight the second page, press "Open" to read the second page, then "Back", select page 3, press "open", you get the idea. Doesn't sound like a pain when you read this, but on my other phone all I had to do was read the first page, press down, read the second page. None of this back and forth stuff. Ok, now for what really turns me off of this phone. For no reason at all, it will turn itself off. It will do it when you're making a call, when you're in the middle of a call, even when it is sitting on the nightstand and you're doing nothing with it. It will do it with the bluetooth feature on or off, or with the battery at full charge or half. It will do it whether it is plugged into the charger or not. When it does this, it won't turn back on and you must take out the battery and put it back in and turn the phone on. Also, the phone takes a while to turn on. I hadn't even had the phone 6 months when it started doing this. I'm not rough on cell phones, either. I don't drop it or sit on it. It stays on my bed most of the day and in a protective pouch when I'm out. From what I've read on other reviews, 6 months is a long time to have the phone before it starts shutting off for no reason. I've also read in other reviews that the cell provider and Sony Ericsson are very unhelpful in dealing with this. So, I'm not going to bother. I'm going to use my old phone until I can get another phone, and my new phone won't be a Sony Ericsson; never, never, ever again!!
Oh, I should mention the echo you get sometimes. I hear myself on feedback when talking to people sometimes. Very disturbing to hear what you just said repeated back to you, especially when you're tryin to conduct business.

Exceeding Expectations, to a point

Experience: 1 Years
Pros: Really cool hidden LED external display, Beautiful internal display; very vivid,
Fantastic music player on a non-walkman SE device,
CameraCons: Sometimes freezes/lags, battery hatch easily pops off,
some side buttons somewhat unresponsiveSummary: Before this phone, I had the extremely reliable SE Z520a, which was the best phone I ever had. When the salesperson told me it was basically that phone was a predeccesor to this, I decided to try this out. When I bought mine, the purple color was still available and that color was extremely vivid and eye-catching. The hidden LED display is perfect and pretty much blew all of my friends away. It's no good in the sunshine unless you shield it with your hand or something, but you could always just flip it open and check there. I think the first time turning it on, the first thing that would catch the eye of the user was the brilliant internal display. Due to its large size, obviously the phone was on the larger side. Although the phone was on the big side, it just gave it a durable, solid feel rather than unnecessarily large. The buttons were extremely well placed and it's a great phone for texting on. I kept the camera on its lowest setting (VGA) and the performance was still outstanding, and the 2 mp pictures were astounding. The phone has an impressive internal memory because i was able to store most of my text messages from when i first got this phone as well as music and pictures. The sound on this phone was awesome and I thought a really cool feature was that if you chose to, you could actually close the phone while on speakerphone and the call wouldn't end. The call quality was really clear at first, but as time went there would be these annoying times that got more and more frequent where the call would end and the phone would shut off. I'm not certain if it was on this specific device because my sister also has this device and hers does not do this, but just be wary. Also, if you're clumsy, this may or may not be the phone for you. On the con side, the battery hatch easily pops off when it falls (but not when trying to take it off- go figure. However, on the plus side, for such a stylish product, it's pretty durable. I've dropped it on numerous occasions and although your phone will automatically shut down or say inactive smartchip, if you just turn it off and take out then put back in the battery, it works good as new. The small music button is somewhat unresponsive, but that's only when the phone is closed, so I don't personally think that point is a deal-breaker. The battery life really isn't something to rejoice about, especially while texting. However, like most SE devices, it will give you a warning that the phone is abut to die (like 5 times) before actually dying, so you can warn your mom/spouse/whomever that you can't be reached (: Overall, for the price this is a fantastic phone with a few annoyances that aren't disruptive to the overall performance. If you're someone who's looking for a bunch of media on one phone at a wallet-friendly price (around $9.99 with a 2-yr contract with at&t)this really is a spectacular phone. It's not one of the higher-end phones from SE, but it still performs really well. I'd definitely recommend this
