What’s Good: Touchscreen and Full QWERTY Keyboard in Compact Body; Clean Menus and “Croix” User Interface; 2MP Camera with Autofocus and Flash; GPS with VZ Navigator; Full HTML Browser; Good Sound Quality

What’s Not Good: Touchscreen Can Be Difficult to Use, Especially Around Edges and Using Web Browser; Slightly Thick Profile; No D-Pad

Bottom Line: Samsung shrunk the F700 down to a cool, compact size in making the Glyde.  The slide-out QWERTY board is handy and surprisingly comfortable given its small size, and the finger-friendly touchscreen is generally quite good (with a few consistently frustrating quirks).  Glyde brings much of Voyager’s flash to a smaller, simpler device, and is a fun new option in Verizon’s messaging phone lineup.

Specs:

Wednesday, September 24, 2008I got the gylde and didn't read any of the user reviews before hand. Wish I did, I've had all the problems the reviewers had, plus more. After 3 days I called Verizon and I'm sending it back. It SUCKS! It's not user friendly, the dial pad is HORRIBLE. EVERY TIME when calling a company vm and have to enter an extension, it never works because the wrong keys would dial. If I used the qwerty then the speaker phone turns on and I'd really like my calls to be private. so, once I got the correct extension and was connected, I'd have to slide the keyboard shut to continue the call. PLUS if there's any outside noise, the phone picks it up and will end a call if I'm leaving a vm for someone. PLUS numerous people have told me I'm dialing when I'm in the middle of talking to them. I'm not hitting any buttons and I can't hear the beeping but I look at my keyboard and sure enough I'm hitting some numbers. It happens over and over again. I HATE this phone!

Sunday, September 21, 2008Verizon robbed me with this phone! This is my 2nd one and it still sucks. The touch screen sometimes don't even work even when I adjust the sensitivity. The ringtones I purchased from them sounds horrible. The quality of the sound is just unbearable. I had to call and ask them to refund the ringtone! Sometimes if someone is calling I can't answer it because of the horrible touch screen. Sometimes hanging up is a hassle. I don't know if anyone has this problem, but when I'm talking on the phone I can't hear the other person's end. It just sounds like they have completely hung up. I have to say, "hello...hello", each time that Im on the phone. The reception is not that great. Sometimes it just sounds like the other person is breaking up and sometimes I would lose reception in certain places. I thought Verizon is suppose to be on top of the stuff like this. I can't believe I actually have to say, "Can you hear me now?", on every call. Oh and also, do not hold your phone around the bottom area because that is where the reception antenna is. I've tried not to and it is still the same. The phone has its pros. It is cute and compact. The keyboard is fine for me since I have small fingers. I like how the keyboard just slides out. The touch screen is a cool thing, but they should fix it though. The camera is good you just have to adjust the settings for different qualities. Oh you can also do the V CAST Song ID. That is neat. Do you think they can give me a different phone since I paid too much for this and it is still bad? Ive had the phone for 4 months now. This is my 2nd one, should I go through with a 3rd Glyde? This phone reminds me of the XBOX 360. It's cool, but it sucks.

Wednesday, September 17, 2008ive had this phone for a couple weeks now and i havent had any problems with it so far. for me the touch screen is always responsive i just hope it stays that way. the only complaints i have are that there is no vertical view on the music player and u have to take the back off every time u want to get at the micro sd card but other than that its a very nice phone idk y it has such a bad rep based on what it can do for how cheap it is

Thursday, August 21, 2008I have had the glyde for over 2 months now. it was the worst decision to not return it on the 30 days return policy they give you. i would not recommend this phone simply because of the touch screen,,it never works. sometimes it the phone is sitting in the table it will be pushing buttons all by it self. the first fews days of having the phone is fine but after about 30 days you'll have problems because im on my third phone and i've had a software upgrade.

Sunday, August 17, 2008Ok, so i just ordered my glyde online yesterday so i guess it's just a little late to be asking questions, but here we go... i live waaaaaay out in the middle of nowhere, so i have a VERY weak signal, right now i have an LG chocolate, one of the first ones, and it does fairly well, i usually have one or on the rare occasion, two bars of signal strength. But it does well enough to text, usually from anywhere, and i can send and recieve calls, usually. Most of the time they eventually get dropped. But my question is, will i be able to get a signal with my new glyde? I've heard that the glyde's signal strength is weak. So I'm just a bit worried about not being able to use my phone at my house.
