Samsung Instinct-M800 Review - Introduction

I am really considering getting this phone. I was gonna get the Samsung Exclaim for $80.00 but since Sprint added to Touch Pro 2, The price of the Samsung Instinct went from $150 [i think] down to FREE! There's also the newer version Instinct but its like $150[then $50 rebate]. I've been reading reviews of this phone and i hear that it's not good for texting if you have big fingers/hands. luckily i have small hands ^-^ The newer Instinct version i believe supports IM but it had a downgraded web browser which is strange. Plus I would choose this phones design any day over the Palm phones, to me the Palm phones look like really outdated ugly Blackberrys. I have no desire to ever own one.

Hmmm...let me start, the only reason I would keep the instinct is the PAM function, and the opera browser is decent(better than the one that comes with it). But the worst thing is not being able to control your phones features and functions. My main thing is incoming txt. You can't stop them from showing up, and only put in background as notification. You can be typing and next thing u know you are hitting the reply button and don't be on any websites where u can blog, email etc because you'll lose all you typed before submitting. When a voicemail comes it locks up terribly. They should've made the answer button for calls like the end call and the mute button as well, I hate being on the phone and wondering why no one is responding to what you've just said. The phone is straight but needs alot of work and the S30 well, another topic, I wish they incorporated the A900's functions in the instinct.

I have had this phone for a while, And it is good at many things, But there are also many annoying little flaws that can easily get on someones nerves.
Like, For Example, You will text a hugely long message, and then right at the end when your at the point of sending it, the screen blinks and then freezes. Forcing you to remove the battery and waiting for it to turn back on. And once it loads again, you get the wonderful suprise of your message no longer being there. Making you retype it ! :[ - Idk if this happens to everyone, but it happens to me normally about 5 times a day.
It has hardly anything you can customize either. Again, For Example, Your menu and main color scheme is an ugly grey color. You only get to see your screen saver about 5 seconds. Not very many ringers included. Etc.

-The internet is hard to use, if you try to touch a search/URL bar, you have to continuesly click on it to get it to load. So make sure you have long nails too, because the search/URL bars are extremely small.
-When you talk on the phone, make sure it's in a quiet place, because the volume is very low.

ALSO ! The TV/Radio function is the worst about it ! In a phone that REQUIRES you to have the certain "Everything" plan, the tv/radio is horrible. The TV's quality is horrible. Everything comes in blocky, and it is always freezing and taking forever to load.

I understand that everyone thinks OMG! A touch phone ! But really, they cannot be worth all the fuss. They are hard to use and can be a huge pain in the butt ! Especially when your typing a message on an all touch phone and when you touch the space bar, it types a B or an X.
Also, I know that the touch phones are just really beginning to take off - And so i know you cannot expect everything about it - But lets just hope that the Samsung Instinct 2 is alot better than this one, because otherwise i think there would be more unhappy customers.

There are a couple positives on the other side (As if it matters) -
-The MP3 player
-Great Camera (only color pictures, and no "fun frames" :[ )
-The different alarms and things under the "Clock" menu.
-SOME things in "Email"


Sorry to say this, But i've owned this phone since Christmas, and i am REALLY missing regular "Push" Keys. :\

im sorry... after reading these reviews about how great this phone is, i cant help but commenting. this phone is horrible! the touch screen is horrible! also battery life sucks (note how they gave two batteries with the phone). there is no aim on it! and if it did have aim, you cant be notified when you recieve IMs if the program is running in the background (sprints problem). internet is soo slow! there are pretty much no applications for this phone. the calendar is a joke. i must say, i loved the gps. but the gps is the only thing i loved about this phone. you cant change the boring gray color of the entire theme of the phone. you cant have a background (only a stupid screen saver). on top of all this, the phone is very very large. people compared it to the iphone, and i would take ANY phone over the samsung instinct. samsung rushed the design of it to compete with the iphone (not an intellegent idea).

yeah this phone is NICE especially wit the edition of the opera browser 4.2 it's easy to txt too, only if u really focus and pay attention to the keyboard

The games are ok on it. The phone is pretty cool, browser is good(after update) music isen't that loud but its clear and sounds nice. Navigation is real good, camera is mediocore (5.5 out of 10) messaging is ok, although you make mistakes and cant really type fast. TV on it IS bad, but if u set ur ip and port to all 0's its alot better.

can u show some games apps on the instinct im dying to see how the games are

Should i get the samsung instinct or the razr2 v9m?, im having a really hard time trying and figure it out because i heard that its too delicate. All i know is that motorola is sorta better in phones.....plz send me a message someone, PLZ.

just so u know sprints working on alot of updates on this phone so they can download 3rd party apps and surf threw the web easier...and they should be available at the end of this month i think and i really don't get why the dare is rated higher than this phone.....

i just bought the instinct and im with telus...in the fun section it just says tv, not tv/video, can i still watch movies without paying or whatever

phones: yes u can upload music that is already on ur computer to ur phone u dont have to pay a dime.. unlike verizon and the dare. it comes with usb cable and a memry card adaptor so u can do it 2 ways...

Are they working on an AIM application for the instinct?
