Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Review Part 3

Have u tried the nokia lately with a few firmware updates they hve done?

I have the Nokia 5800 myself and I think it is one of the best phones I have ever had. I had to tweak the touch because it was little to sensitive at first. The battery life is incredible. The camera and video quality is top notch. I think Nokia did a good job on this phone, for a long time i was wondering if they were going to get left behind. They have always made great phones. And I know some iphone fan boy is going to yell it sucks (big deal go cry somewhere else). I was going to get an iphone until i checked this phone out. The Nokia has a better camera, removable battery, long battery life, great touch response, lots of options. Nokia has their own app store and you can still use 3rd party apps. I can still text, pic, and video messaging. The phone lets you play flash from web sites out of the box, and works even better if you run the updates. I always like the reviews from phonedog but you might want to try playing with it with the new firm ware update (mine came shipped with the update already). You can also run multiple apps at one time, no more closing one just to open and run another. There are to many options to talk about here. But overall if you want a great smart phone with out all the extra cost this is it.

seems like the touch screen doesn't respond quickly. i'm quite confused which phone is better between 5800 and e71. any help?? thanks..

Saw your reviews and i feel your gripe on the interface is very interesting.

After watching you try to navigate it seems the problem is your and not as much the phone.

Because pretty much everything you need is on the screen already.

If you want to go to full screen for example while web-browsing, you press the button with the 3 horizontal lines and the next button says full screen, you dont need to go to options and all that.

Many features are like that.

I am an ex iphone 3g user, and pretty much havent gone back since i got this phone.

Just because its not flick based with he UI doesnt make it wrong :S

I preffer scrolling and the sliding form of looking through the menus better.

But each to his own and i guess you where a little biased in regards to your UI bashing.

Just because you wherent used to it, shouldnt make it worse!

Anyway keep up the good work and waiting patiently to see your n97 review!

Hi Noah,

Just wanted to let you know that i watched your review of the 5800XM and although i haven't got one yet, the issue of not being able to have more icons on the main display & having to either have phone contacts or 'normal' icons was a bit of an issue.

I have come across a theme that i think enables you to have more icons on the main screen, although not as you would like contacts & menu shortcuts, this does use the space better, (in my opinion) I'll send a link below so you can take a look & if at all poss tell us what you think I should be getting mine in a couple of weeks.

Noah are you being a bit picky or just not really use to the phone? Because compared to my iphone messeging screen the window is alot bigger and better and you have more options to write a message to someone. The screen display definely seems better then my iphone 3g, of course I'm sorry I did not mention that earlier in statement. I believe it's about knowing or let's say getting use to the phone but definely for a intro and mid range nokia touchscreen phone is not bad with features that are more offering on this device then the iphone. Way to go Nokia!!!!!

ive got myne and its great thanx for the reviw without this i would not of bought this phone (qerqy board is fine solong u have little fingers or just use the styles thanx .

Hi Noah, its my first touch screen and I have had the 'phone for only a week and finding it generally ok. I think the most obvious fault with your review is the big fat thumb you are using, I use my finger nail and find no problem even with the mini qwerty board. There are some things I find I cannot do at the moment, like saving to the 'contacts' (address book as I am used to) from email contacts or incoming 'phone call, and I think the manual (?) is very uninformative.

it's good for teenagers ur just too old for this type of phone.

nokia 5800 is a great phone, i've had this for 6 mos. now and ive never encountered any problems in using it particularly the touch screen, the text inputs i think are great... thumbs up to 5800 XM. iphone sucks, non-expandable memory, took 3 gen. of iphone to put video capture, and much more flaws...

i still like it no matter what

Sorry rat i make a mistake on my writing on my other comment. what i wanted to say is that there is people that can buy more costy cellphones, i wasnt talking directly of Noah, Noah is a great guy. Im just saying that he already had better cellphones in his hands making reviews of them and in comparison of other cellphones, the nokia xpressmusic 5800 wont be so good. But I understand your point and im glad that you have fixed my error. Thank you. I hope you understand what im talking about.

Zubzero Dont say fucking things you don't know about. Noah doesn't own any of the phones. There all loaners to reveiw or gifts. He has maybe 4 phones at the most. So shut the fuck up.

I think that in somethings youre right but when you start saying bad comments its because you have the money to buy all the phones you want, thats why i think you say all does bad comments. Because you have already better cellphones than that one. But for those like me that doesnt have enough money to buy a awesome cellphone, this phone is perfect because its not too costy and have cool features. But by the way, good video, im always looking your videos when in doubt of a cellphone,

Not a fair comparison, price-wise...

A few times in this review, it just looks like he doesn't know what he's doing. i.e. the video switch. He takes a picture "by accident". How can you know the phone enough to review it if you can mistakenly take a picture instead of going through a menu to select the video recording feature?? Some points he makes are good, but things like that make me wonder how familiar with the phone he really was.

Hi guys...I'm lookin for advice...what do you think?, I have an LG viewty since about a year, and I have the opotunity to change it, is the Nokia 8500 a good choice? taking about user interfaces, video recording and pictures...

In this video you seem to be overwhelmed by nokia's OS and features ;) But lets be honest... It is a great phone. I have heard and even experienced the 5800. I love it (true it's no iPhone). The iPhone is almost 3 times the price if you buy it without contract... And me personally I prefer the horizontal keyboard. but you got to get used to it. I would say the same thing about the iPhone... Not a user friendly UI 'cause I'm not used to it... think about that ;)

Hi i jus wanted to ask a question..... do you use the phone cover that you get with the phone???? cuz its kind of annoying when im trying to get the phone out of it.... in a instance like when a call is coming it takes me hours to take it out... n btw ive got a screen protector.. so is the phone cover needed???

I would stay away from the N96, it has the same battery as my phone (N95-1).. The BL-5F, which I can tell you it's really not that great.. N86 is a very good choice, it has the OLED screen and 8MP Carl Zeiss lens.. Both N97 and the N86 are great choices, good luck choosing which one you'll get, I am sure you will be happy with both of them..
