Nokia N97 (Unlocked) - Review, Part 2

i just got the N97 N. American V. and I like the phone alot, note I have seen about every review on this phone befor i got it. The keyboard yeah mabe lacking in the total package like the touch pro 2. it is worthy of an Nseries name mabe not the flagship phone due to the older looking OS. I have the 5800 and I like to think of this phone as the 5800 ExpressMusic on super roids. I love the LOOK!!

I feel wat he's sayin. For a phone to cost as much as this one does you would think that they would have done a better job on designing it. And it's not all that attractive.

Most pro reviewers don't have the balls to have an opinion.
I think at $700 this phone needs to be as solid as any other high-end smart phone. Which means it needs to stand up to the comparisons; especially against dumb phones.

Interesting comments. I agree this is NOT nor should it be the FLAGSHIP but guess what I will buy it mainly because of the OS. I have an E90 & E66. The 90 hummm after 14 months (2 outside warrenty) the TX kaput! The RX, fine and the killer according to the Nokia repair shop, "Can't be repaired!" I have it in writing. NOW, if they had taken the form factor of the E90 with a candybar form on the outside (LG picked up on this) and a full QWERTY on the inside with a protected screen they would have had something. Problems with the 90.. the screen touches the keyboard, slow processor, no touch screen; address these plus thin the thing down and it could have been a winner; two versions, make it a N serices with the N97 apps and an E series with the office suite, simple, practical and a winner..and by the way the work quality as well as materials used by Nokia now are definaely not what they used to be..sorry dont buy the argument of superior build quality

The N97 looks cool, but i don't think i would spend $700.00 on it. I have a 5800 and its great, he is right other then the amount of storage its not that big of an upgrade. The 5800 comes with an 8gig card or you can get a 16gig card for it. The keyboard on the 5800 works just fine. And the at&t problem only seems to be on the west coast. Cause on the east coast they are perfect. Or it could just be the area that Noah is in, I'm not sure.

Is very easy to see is not the best phone NOKIA made, my e71 is better made in terms of material, and the n95 still seems the best n-series device that NOKIA has made so far... a wired keyboard... i personally think this part of the review was better than the 1st. part, i agree that NOKIA keep making key phones OS on touchscreen phones... and compared to Android, Iphone, PalmPre and BlackBerry, Nokia have a very solid OS but not as eyecandy as them, but for all the Symbian users that now how it works, even though we are tired of looking at the same we know how it work and what u can do with it that u cant with other phones...

I don't think you should get either of them. The Symbian OS is horrible and it is whats keeping phones like this one down. Noah is right, comparing to all the other choices out now Nokia is behind. I had the 5800 for about a year and regretted it. After buying an android device I cant see why anyone would choose this instead.

That same thing happend to my battery cover, the little plastic thing broke off. The phone lags out and turns its self on and off. It wont let me update, it just fails all the time. Ovi store is crap. No range of widgets. Just rubbish and istill have 15months on this contract. I WANT THE HTC HERO! Do not buy this phone, you will be sorely dissapointed. Don't say i didn't warn you.

The Nokia 5530 is a smartphone and entertainment device that shares it's platform with the Nokia 5800 & without the keyboard and slightly faster CPU the N97. these phones all come from the same Generation of Symbian S60 version 5 touch screen devices. If you were smart you would have sad the Nokia 6708 but that was nothing more than a a slightly tweaked version of the BenQ P31 &, although it was a Symbian device, the 6708 ran the UIQ interface.

1. Blackberry pearl.. The form factor makes it the easiest to use in the bunch. 2. iphone. its OS & larger screen makes surfing the web, watching movies, viewing photos and playing games a treat but it's touch screen keyboard is its only real downfall 3. Blackberry Storm. it Has a nicest touch screen keyboard I ever used but the last time I used one it seemed sluggish however that issue could have been resolved. If so it would make an excellent choice too and offers a bigger screen.

I have the N97 and I'm telling you the IPhone without question. If you want a phone that locks up all the time, does nothing well and is basically a pocket salesman get the n97 But don't say I & others did not warn you. forget what the Nokia crowd has to say. They are just as bad as bible thumpers. For gods sake this is nokia's 1st touch screen phone. That should tell you all you need to know. By the way; it's got no undo option & you must shut the keyboard to use copy paste.

maybe he forgot somethin but its not too serious,n97 rules,its a nice phone,maybe someone wont like it cause of the symbian but its everyones choice its worth it in many ways

his comments about this phone maybe harsh and hard to accept, but as he said, he was very carefull reviewing this phone. and it just doesnt keep up with the competition. and all u stuborn people saying noah's a dumb idiot, well, say hello to N97 mini (the quick solution for all the big N97 flaws?)

If you look at the N97 as the begining of something great for Nokia Touch Screen phones then you will get along with it.

Maybe it is just me, but it seems he talks very seriously about the flaws and then just casually and quickly mentions the pros. For example, he says "oh and the sound quality is excellent" very fast while he is wrapping up the accessories.

hands down the best 97 review, this review made me realized that this phone is lame compared to others on the market and that price tag is ridicules for what you get

Yes but it sucks. You can't use the keyboard and the number pad at the same time. One thing to know is its imposable to use this phone while you drive.. Forget it. A palm Treo may not have 3g (depending where you live), as big a screen, WI-FI or as good a camera but at the end of the day it has a better OS, better office suit & phone book application that you can use with one hand while you drive. This phone turned me off from all wide screen touch screen phones with or without keyboards.

N97 for me. One thing he forgot to mention is that the N97 is N-gage compatible. So with all the N-gage games. And the fact that you can play videos to your TV in full 640X360 resolution! Also for the speaker phone as soon as you flip it open it goes to speaker and it switches back when you slide it back in. I found the camera to be great. Especially motion, I was on a moving bus and was getting no motion blur! The stylus is sexeh! I have it on my keys Function>form!!!
