This is not a completely fair comparison. Notice at the start of the video he made a point to clear the bookmarks, cache and History on the Pre so you could get a real idea of the speed. The same was not done for the others. Notice, when he starts to type the address on the others you get a multitude of suggestions from the history and cache on them. We have no idea what is on these phones or how the pre would perform in the same condition. There must have been a reason he felt the need to wipe it in the first place.

i think the iphone and the palm pre are both very good phones. one phone is not better than the other, the iphone has itunes, which lots of people use today, and it makes the iphone more convenient. calling the pre and iphone kiler is like saying the ps3 is an xbox360 killer, its all a matter of taste.

6:57 on the g1 it clearly has 3 windows up. i am a g1 user i know what makes it slow.

wow so the guy does a helpful comparison just to show the speed against a few popular phones at the moment and you iphone nuts go crazy because its not the 3gs the video is simply a comparison in no way shape or form to say that its better than the iphone just demonstrating the new webkit browser

U can't vs the pre to the iPhone 3g that's about a year old technology for the iPhone..get the iPhone 3gs then it would b fair because the palm pre and iPhone 3gs came out about the same time..

the g1 dosent close all the tabs i have one and and iphone + storm i was thinking about the pre but it dies too fast g1 for nice qwerty iphone for games and storm for the unmatchable email service

It's prob because he's almost using his nails. My pre works fine. I just tap once.
I'm loving it so far!! Can't put it down.
Now my Itouch feels clunky. Love the Itouch, but I dont know how people can actually have it as a phone(iPhone).

lets wait a year and take this palm pre and put it up against the phones of tomorow. This is a dumb test. The iPhone 3gs in a week would be a fair test. If it's faster than that iPhone 3gs then it is officialy crowned the champ for 2009. iPhone was best of 2008. So sorry folks try again

This video is comparing the 2009 model of the Pre against the 2008 models from T-Mobile and Apple. The Pre is coming with a new generation of ARM CPUs that will also be included in a lot of other smartphones this year. Once the new iPhone is released next week with twice the RAM and CPU speed we will most likely see that the iPhone takes back the perfomance crown. Even the 2008 iPhone will see a boost through a OS upgrade that is scheduled for 17 Jun.

Your stats are wrong. As of today there are 9,000 games and 39,000 other apps available in the iPhone store. So just 20 % are games, 80 % other things.

Over half of those "applications" are stupid little games. They barely even qualify as real applications.
And besides, how many applications did the iPhone have when it first came out? Yeah, that's what I thought.

People need to understand that the Iphone is 90% a media phone, thats its sole cause. The Pre is a TRUE smartphone that just happens to do everything else well. Two different phones, two different causes. But from owning an iphone which i no longer have, I'll take a smartphone with media capabilities any day over an iphone.
